Has it really been 2 months since the last little son update? Well, I’ve a few stories that should be documented for history, forgetting the exact dates.
One afternoon, while completing my daily mom-taxi duties afterschool, I picked up big son at the corner convenience store down the street from his middle school. Oh the memories, I still remember sneaking off to the 7-11 down the street from Kennedy / Monta Vista!
Well, I managed to pick up N and was happy to have all three children within the vehicle and on the way home, where I was to drop off big son to do homework while the itties and I went grocery shopping.
As he climbed out of the car, and I asked him to start his homework, we both realized that my gifted 11 year old had forgotten his backpack at the convenience store. If you know him at all, this may not come as a surprise to you, but on this day, for various reasons, I did not find it humorous nor did I have the time to circle back to the store to pick it up for him.
So, N received the necessary scolding about paying attention and planning ahead – I don’t even remember what I said – only that I had said it countless times before. I let him know that I’d have his dad pick it up and was on my way.
As I drove off, I dialed dear hubby to explain the situation and left this message on his voicemail:
” You’ll never believe what your son did today. I just dropped him off at home when he informed me that he left his backpack at the Plaid Pantry! Can you swing by and pick it up on your way home? Thanks.”
I turned up the radio and continued on my way to the store.
About 10 minutes later, I heard a little voice pipe up from the backseat, “Mom?”
“I thought he was your son?”
